The Pareto Principle claims 20% of content gets 80% of the views.

Wrong.

It’s more like 5% of content gets 95% of the attention.

Why?Because most content is... BORING.Repetitive. Cliché. Dry. The literary equivalent of stale toast.

But here’s the good news: Your content doesn’t have to be forgotten.

The Secret to Creating Content That Sells (Without Feeling Salesy, Sleazy, or Annoying)

First step: Stop writing like a soggy noodle. Your copy needs some firepower! Here's how to bring the heat:

1. Write Like You Talk

Think of it this way: You’re chatting with a good friend over coffee (or tequila shots—no judgment). Keep it real, keep it human.

That means:

  • Short, punchy sentences.

  • Breaking up those giant, soul-sucking paragraphs.

  • A rhythm that’s easy to skim.

Every word should feel like a nudge, pulling your reader along for the ride.

2. Hook Your Reader (And Don’t Let Go)

The goal? Grab them by the eyeballs. Make them read your first sentence. Then the next. And the next.

How? Not with lines like this:

"We’ve been in business for 20 years and really care about our customers.”

Yawn. That’s what your competitors are saying. Predictable = forgettable.

Instead, use razor-sharp hooks and headlines that scream:“This article is about YOU and why you NEED this info.”

3. Make It All About THEM

Here’s the truth: Nobody cares about us.

They care about themselves—their problems, goals, and dreams. Your job? Show them how your content solves their problems.

Every sentence should scream, "Here’s how this benefits YOU.”

When readers believe you’re genuinely here to help, they’ll stick around.

4. Call Out Their Doubts

Your audience isn’t naive. They have questions. Doubts. Skepticism. So, meet it head-on.

Take a note from advertising legend David Ogilvy:

"The consumer is not a moron. She’s your wife.”

Call out their concerns. Then answer with empathy, logic, and facts. Be real. Be honest. Build trust.

What’s Next?

Let’s wrap it up with this: If you’re tired of writing content that doesn’t convertdoesn’t engagedoesn’t even get read

It’s time to try something new.
